I dusted off my watercolors and painted this meeting of frogs. I wanted to use very simple shapes and just have fun with the colors and composition. It was a great success, I had a lot of fun working with watercolors again!
I have a great idea for the Children’s Illustrator challenge of September (the theme is “Are the Squirrels Having a Party?”). Sadly the concept I have seems so far out of reach for my skill it seems light years away. This didn’t stop me from trying, I drew up dozens of studies and sketches trying to work my way up to my final concept. Above is one of my quick sketches. I wasn’t able to draw the final drawing in time for the challenge and probably won’t have it done for some time to come, but I’m going to keep it on the back-burner and some day I’ll release it out into the world when I have it all finished. For now though I’m keeping it all hush hush.
