A quick doodle of a friend’s TMNT character, a super-spy seal. I tried to keep with the gritty Eastman / Laird style of the original comics. Did you know that the original TMNTs actually started out as a parody of over-the-top comic book superheroes?
Inspired and based on the short story “Green Hat” by Xagarath.
I’ve been gone, but I haven’t stopped drawing! Here is a small sampling of what I’ve been working on for the past few months:
And to finish up, a little fan art sketch for one of my favorite games, Minecraft.
I have accomplished my goal of drawing one hundred hands! And now I can’t stop, I’ve become obsessed with drawing hands! The Bridgman’s guide to Drawing from Life was a huge help towards reaching my goal. Despite the fact that I’ve had hands nearby me as long as I can remember I see them in a whole new light now.
Many of the things I have learned were a surprise to me, but looking back they seem like they should have been obvious. For example until I started this exercise I had never realized that the length of the middle finger is roughly the same distance as the length between the wrist and the start of the fingers.
Currently at 117 of 100 hands!
You can’t master hand drawing without digging deeper and studying the underlying muscles. This is my first attempt at doing just that. All doctors and surgeons please keep your snickering to a minimum.
